Haryana elections: Congress party releases first list of 84 candidates; Kumari Selja’s name absent, BS Hooda to contest from Garhi-Sampla

Gearing up for the upcoming Haryana polls, Congress party released the first list of candidates on Wednesday night. The list contains the names of 84 candidates in total. Haryana will go to polls for its 90 seats on 21 October.

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will fight from Garhi Sampla assembly. Congress Communication department chief Randeep Singh Surjewala has been fielded from Kaithal while Kiran Chaudhary has been nominated from Tosham. Haryana Congress Chief Kumari Selja‘s name was not present in the released list.

After the release of first list of candidates, Haryana Congress Chief Ashok Tanwar alleged the party of tickets being sold out. His comments came after his name was found to be dropped off the list.

The party has fielded Tarlochan Singh to fight against Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Karnal. The remaining 6 candidates will be declared soon by the party.

Important Dates for Haryana Polls-

  • The detailed notification will be issued on September 27.
  • The filing of nominations will begin from September 27 to October 4.
  • Scrutiny of applications will be done on October 5.
  • Nominations withdrawal can be done till October 7.
  • Haryana Polls for its 90 assembly seats will take place on October 21.
  • Counting of votes will be done on October 24.
