Congress UP East General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said She can’t be compared with her grandmother Indira Gandhi, She is nothing in front of her. But she and her brother Rahul Gandhi shared the same desire for service. Nobody can take that out of us, Priyanka Gandhi added.
She made the remarks when workers in the Kanpur Parliamentary Seat when workers drew comparisons between her and Indira Gandhi by shouting slogans like, ‘Priyanka Nahi andhi and Desh ki Dusri Indira Gandhi hai’.

Priyanka Gandhi on Friday held a massive roadshow from the city’s Ghantaghar area to Mall Road in support of the party candidate and former Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal. Party in a run-up to the national elections has named Jaiswal to take on Bharatiya Janata Party‘s Satyadev Pauchari and Mahagathbandhan’s Ram Kumar.
Priyanka Gandhi on the occasion also trained guns towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and said the saffron party since ever came to power has only concerned only about “its own progress” instead of the nations. Calling it a ‘Government of Publicity and Showoff”, newly inducted Gandhi said the present government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party is only concerned about its own progress.

The newly inducted Gandhi, who held a massive roadshow, claimed that Kanpur has seen no development under the Bharatiya Janata Party rule. BJP’s Senior Leader Murli Manohar Joshi is a sitting MP from the UP’s Kanpur. He had defeated INC’s Sriprakash Jaiswal with over 2 Lakh votes in 2014 National Elections.
However, in a run-up to the national elections, BJP has replaced Joshi with Satyadev Pachauri.
Slamming the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘The Government has totally ignored Kanpur, what about the promise of turning Kanpur into a smart city’ she said while questioning the ruling party.
Talking about the party flagship promise of NYAY or the Minimum Income Guarantee, Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘We at Congress committed to working for people and have promised Rs 72,000 yearly to the poor if we voted to power after the polls. She also slammed Bharatiya Janata Party for demonetisation and the goods and services tax which had caused a lot of trouble for the common people.
Priyanka Gandhi had entered active politics in January this year and has been given the responsibility of UP East that has 41 Lok Sabha Seat of the state.
80 seats of the state will go to polls in all seven phases starting from April 11 till May 19. The 16 Lok Sabha Seats of including Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kairana, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Bijnor, Aligarh, Mathura, Buldansharhr, among others have already voted on in first two phases of Voting. Phase-III of Voting is slated for April 23.
Counting of votes will take place on May 23, four days after the final round of Polling.
