The Delhi High Court on Tuesday extended the interim protection of former Union Minister P Chidambaram in connection with INX Media Case. The Court has fixed 24th January as next date in the case reported by ANI.

Earlier the Court had granted him protected after he approached the Judiciary fearing an arrest in the court following an FIR by CBI and Enforcement Directorate.

Former Congress minister P Chidambaram was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it on early this month in connection with INX Media case.

Both P Chidambaram and son Karti Chidambaram came under scanner in connection with  3,500 crore Aircel-Maxis and 305 crore INX Media. The INX Media is a venture promoted by former media baron Peter Mukherjea and Indrani Mukerjea.

The alleged irregularities date backs to 2006-07 when he was a Finance Minister in the UPA Government led by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

While in INX Media Case, Delhi High Court last month extended the interim protection from arrest to Chidambaram till January 15 next year.

Chidambaram filed the anticipatory bail in May this year following which the Court has extended the relief time to time.

In October, the Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth Rs 54 crore of Karti Chidambaram in India, the UK, and Spain in connection with the case, the action Karti said was “bizarre and outlandish”.

The properties included assets in Kodaikanal and Ooty in Tamil Nadu and a flat in New Delhi’s Jorbagh.

In another development on January 11, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against Nalini Chidambaram, the wife of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram in connection with Saradha Scam. The Case has been registered alleging she had received  1.4 crore from Saradha group of companies, embroiled in a chit fund scam, CBI officials.
