Ending the Speculation about HD Kumaraswamy’s participation in campaigning in the ruling CongressJanata Dal-Secular (JDS) government, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will campaign for the Congress candidate in Kundgol and Chincholi assembly on May 13 and 14 that will go to polls along with the seventh and the last phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Minister’s office confirmed that HD Kumaraswamy will reach Kundgol via Hubballi on Monday evening and will campaign for the Congress candidate in the Assembly.

The tentative schedule also includes that HD Kumaraswamy will travel to Kalaburagi and participate in the program held there before leaving for Chincholi to campaign for the Congress candidate in the Assembly.

The by-polls for the Chincholi assembly is urged after the resignation of sitting member Umesh Yadav who quit Congress Party and join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the recent Lok Sabha elections from Gulbarga parliamentary constituency. The Kundagol Assembly seats are going for the by-polls after the death of minister CS Shivalli.

In Chincholi assembly constituency, Congress has fielded Subhash Rathod and BJP has fielded Avinash Jadhav. In the Kundagol assembly constituency, the contesting candidates are Kusumawathi, Shivalli’s wife from the Congress and S I Chikkanagowdar from BJP.

A total of 17 candidates are in the fray from Chincholi assembly and 8 candidates are contesting from Kundagol assembly segment. The two assemblies will go to polls on May 19 for which the results will be declared on May 23 along with the Lok Sabha results for general elections 2019.

Kumaraswamy non-participation in the campaigning for Congress candidates for the alliance had given rise to speculations in the political circles that something is not in form between the Congress and JDS party.

The country is witnessing the polls for 17th Lok Sabha in seven phases. Five phases of the elections were held on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, and May 6. The remaining two phases will be held on May 12 and May 19. the results for the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on May 23.
