Responding to the ongoing nationwide strike of the Doctors followed by violence against the Doctors in West Bengal, Union Minister Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan requested West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not to make the issue a ‘prestigious battle’. He also assured Doctors that the Union Government will take care of the responsibility of their safety.

‘I appeal to West Bengal CM to not make this an issue of prestige. She gave the doctors an ultimatum, as a result, they got angry and went on strike. Today, I will write to Mamata Banerjee ji and will also try to speak to her on this issue’, Union Minister said while talking to ANI.

He further said that despite getting beaten up, doctors there in Bengal only demanded security and action against those responsible behind for the violence. However, Mamati ji instead of responding to the demands she gave them an ultimatum that rattled and Doctors become angry over the issue.

He further said that he will reach out to Mamata Banerjee and will write to her over the issue. He said that the Union Government is committed to ensuring the safety of the Doctors.

He also requested all the doctors to get back to their duties and just hold symbolic protests.

Doctors in the West Bengal have launched a strike after two doctors were attacked over the issue of negligence at the NRS Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday. The violence incident drew a sharp reaction from Doctors community across the nation as many government and private institutions.

West Bengal Mamata Banerjee had on Thursday appealed to all to restore normal healthcare services to the patients without any further delay.

‘I sent Commissioner of Police, Kolkata to talk to the junior doctors. 5 persons have been arrested and their bail prayers were rejected by Ld Court. Our government has taken full care of the injured doctor. We pray that he recovers quickly. As per information received, he is stable and improving’, Mamata Banerjee said in a Facebook post.
