The suspicious powder was immediately sent to the forensic lab for further investigation. After the laboratory test, it was known that the suspicious power found was a powerful explosive Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN). According to the report of The Guardian, PETN is increasingly becoming the favorite of terrorist organisations as detecting this powder is very difficult. Its colorless crystals are hard to detect if sealed in a container. Unlike the commonly used explosives like RDX or locally developed explosives using fertilizers, PETN, is a major ingredient of Semtex and belongs to the same chemical family as nitroglycerin.
Security officials were seen reviewing the Assembly complex after Wednesday’s incident.
