Rapist Gurmeet‘s adopted daughter Honeypreet who was arrested by the Haryana police on Tuesday has been remanded in police custody for six days by the local court.

Honeypreet was charged with allegations of being involved in setting off the riots after the court’s verdict against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and plotting escape plans for her father. After absconding for almost 40 days she was picked up by the Haryana police on Tuesday and was interrogated till 3 in the night. However, she denied all the allegations that she was not involved in instigating any violence, nor she had anything to do with the escape plans. She also had said that both she and her father Gurmeet were innocent.

As per the latest updates, Panchkula court in Haryana on Wednesday remanded  Honeypreet Insan in six-day police custody. The prosecution had demanded 14-day remand for her on the grounds that she was a close aide of Gurmeet and her interrogation could be beneficial for the police. However, this demand was opposed by Honeypreet’s defence counsel and the court announced remand of six days for her.

Police commissioner AS Chawla, before presenting Haoneypreet at the court had said that the police will request for a maximum repand period for her as her interrogation is important in the violence in which at least 41 people were killed.
