Intensifying its hunt to make a comeback at the Centre, Congress on Tuesday released a list of 40-star Campaigners who will be the party’s face and will galvanize support for the party in a run-up to the general elections 2019. The party in a letter to the election body has mentioned the names of 40 campaigners for the first and second phase of elections in Maharashtra.

The party in the list included its President Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Priyanka Gandhi, Ashok Chavan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ghulab Nabi Azad, Mohammad Azharuddin, Imran Pratapgadi, among others.

Other names in the list include KC Venugopal, Milind Deora, Sanjay Nirupam, Prithviraj Chauhan, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mallikarjun Kharge among others.

The party in Maharashtra for the General Elections has inked an alliance with NCP in Maharastra. The party who has kept 24 seats as a poll pact has already announced its candidates on 21 Parliamentary Seat.

While its partner in the state, Sharad Pawar-led NCP has also declared candidates on 17 Lok Sabha seats out of 20 allotted to them in a poll pact. NCP has fielded Parth Ajit Pawar from its traditional seat of Maval Lok Sabha seat, Supriya Sule from Baramati Parliamentary Seat.

Lok Sabha Polls are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. Results for the crucial Lok Sabha Polls will be announced on May 23, four days after the 7th phase of voting.

48 Parliamentary Seats of Maharashtra will go to polls in four phases starting from April 11, then on April 18, April 23, and April 29.
