Congress Delegation led by Pramod Tiwari on Saturday met and submitted a memorandum to Governor Ram Naik over Sonbhadra firing incident that claimed lives of 10 people.

After meeting the Governor, Pramod Tiwari slammed the Uttar Pradesh Government saying that this government doesn’t want that someone should wipe off victims’ tears. Whatever has happened is unconstitutional and undemocratic and it seems as if Uttar Pradesh govt has implemented undeclared emergency to hid its sins and shortcomings’.

In the meantime, Priyanka Gandhi, who had spent the night in the guest house in Mirzapur, said that that family of the victims of the Sonbhadra firing themselves came to meet her. Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘Two relatives of victims have come here to meet me, 15 others are not being allowed to meet me. Even I am not being allowed to meet them’.

‘I don’t know what the Uttar Pradesh Administration and Government want’, she added.

While earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi met the senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Administration and said that she will not go without meeting the families of the Sonbhadra.

Earlier on Friday, Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP Police when she was on her way to Sonbhadra to meet the family of those killed in July 17 firing incident. Uttar Pradesh Police, citing the imposition of Section 144, taken Priyanka Gandhi into detention. She was later taken to Chunar Guest House, Mirzapur from Varanasi.

Slamming the Uttar Pradesh Government, Priyanka Gandhi in a tweet said, ‘I have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh administration for the last nine hours and kept in the Chunar Fort. The administration is saying that I have to be granted bail of 50,000 otherwise I will be sentenced to 14 days in jail, but they will not let me go to Sonbhadra so they have an ‘order from above’.

In a series of tweets, She continued training guns on Uttar Pradesh Government. She said that she will meet the family of those killed in Sonbhadra and dared the government to arrest her if they want to. ‘If the Government wants to put me in jail for the crime of meeting the victims, I am fully prepared for it’, she said in a series of tweet.

The firing incident took place in Ubbha Village of Ghorawal where the head of the village went to take the possession of the land which he purchased two years ago. However, the Village Head met with Opposition from the villagers which triggered the firing that led to the death of 9 people.
