The dissolution all District Committees is seen as Congress efforts to revive the party in the state by making organizational changes.

After a massive poll setback, Priyanka Gandhi who is an in-charge of the party for UP East is tasked with uphill work to strengthen the party in the state keeping in mind the upcoming by-polls and State Polls that are due for 2022. She had held a couple of meetings post elections 2019.

Currently, both the general secretaries of the party – Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia – are holding a review meeting in the state to deliberate the reasons behind the poll disaster in the recently held national polls.

Priyanka Gandhi had earlier on Saturday held a meeting at Rahul Gandhi’s residence in the national capital. Reportedly, she asked the party workers and leaders directed all the youth congress leaders to reach to voters, help them in their problems related to electricity tariffs and hospitals. She also said to make a social connection with them that would yield political dividends.

Priyanka had campaigned intensively for the party in UP, especially in Raebareli and Amethi but the party lost all the seats in UP except Raebareli. The Congress faced a crushing defeat in national polls and won 52 seats, which is only 8 more than it got in 2014 national polls. It has also lost some of its strongholds across the country including Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
