Gearing up for the Lok Sabha Polls which are now just days away, the Indian National Congress on Friday named Dhirendra Pratap Singh Parliamentary Seat of Uttar Pradesh’s Shrawasti. Dhirendra Pratap Singh in a run-up to the general elections will take on Bharatiya Janata Party‘s Outgoing MP Daddan Mishra from the parliamentary seat of Shrawasti Parliamentary Seat.

Dhirendra Pratap Singh has joined Indian National Congress last month in March. Singh, earlier, has been associated Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party. He had won State Assembly Elections in 2007 from Shrawasti Sadar Seat. In 2012 State Polls, he had unsuccessfully contested from Utraula Assembly seat of Balarampur.

Later he joined BJP but failed to get a ticket from the saffron party in 2014 General elections.

Shrawasti will go to polls on May 12. With this, the party has named 373 Candidates in a run-up the general elections 2019 with a total of 56 in Uttar Pradesh where it has forged an alliance with Jan Adhikar Party, Apna Dal- Krishna Patel and others.

Party in its first list maintaining the tradition has fielded its President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, while United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will be on electoral fray from home turf – Rae Bareli.

Apart from this, the Congress President will also contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat in Kerela.

Ruling Bhartiya Janta Party has also started rolling out lists of Candidates with PM Modi seeking re-election from Varanasi Parliamentary Seat, BJP President Amit Shah contesting from Gandhinagar Seat replacing LK Advani.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Lok Sabha Polls are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.

Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting. 80 Seats of Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in all seven phases starting from April 11.
