In a bid to chart out its strategies for the mega battle of ballots, Indian National Congress has this time chosen PM Narendra Modi‘s Bastion Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Rahul Gandhi led Congress who looks more aggressive than 2014 is set to hold its Congress Working Committee (CWC) Meeting – party’s highest Decision making Body today to give a final push to its strategies for Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

More than 60 Top Leaders including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya ScindiaManmohan SinghGhulam Nabi AzadMallikarjun Kharge and other top Brass of the party would participate in the highest decision making body meet. Apart from this party’s newly appointed Priyanka Gandhi will also address the Working Committee Meeting for the first. She has been appointed as party general Secretary to look after the party’s affairs in UP East.

Congress party will also attend a prayer meeting at the ashram and then hold the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at Sardar Patel Smarak.

This is the first time after 1961 that the Congress Working Committee meeting is taking place in Gujarat. Apart from drafting the party’s the blueprint for the mega battle of 2019, the party leaders are expected to discuss and chalk out a draft of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the anti-BJP pan India Front for the General Elections 2019.

Congress’ state in-charge Rajeev Satav on Monday while talking to press said that it will after 58 years that party will host it Congress Working Committee meeting in Gujarat. He added that Congress will start a new Independence Movement to save democracy following Mahatma Gandhi’s footprints.

Congress Chief will also address a public rally at Trimandir Ground in Adalaj district. This will Priyanka Gandhi’s first public Address outside RaeBareli and Amethi.

Hardik Patel, who emerged as the dynamic Patidar community leader from Gujarat is also expected to join congress today. It is also speculated that he may contest the seat of Jamnagar constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

Earlier on Feb 27, Congress in the wake of the prevailing Tension on the Indo-Pak, Congress postponed the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting and rally scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad for Feb 28. Priyanka Gandhi’s rally was also postponed amid the tension.

Currently, Congress in Gujarat is facing swapping with its legislators shifting to BJP. In another Setback to Congress in Gujarat, its Lawmaker Jawahar Chavda last week resigned as MLA ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls. Chavda later joined Bhartiya Janta Party. With his exit party’s strength in the assembly will get down to 73 in the 183 member assembly. He is the third legislators that turncoat over a period of months.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on Sunday declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Gujarat will poll in an only single phase April 23. Results for the crucial Lok Sabha Polls will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
