Former Delhi Minister and Congress Leader Raj Kumar Chauhan on Saturday joined Bharatiya Janata Party in the national capital. Chauhan joined the saffron party in presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel and Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi Chief Manoj Tiwari. He shifted loyalties after failed to get a ticket from the party for the mega polls 2019.

Reportedly Chauhan was seeking a ticket from North West Lok Sabha Seat however the Congress has named Rajesh Lilothia for the mega battle of ballots. A four-time Lawmaker and a minister in Sheila Dixit Cabinet, Chauhan had earlier protested with his supporters on April 21 outside the Congress Office for denying the Lok Sabha Seat.
Speaking to media after joining hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Raj Kumar Chauhan said ‘A ticket cleared by election board comprising top leaders of the party, got rejected and was given to someone else, he told scribes.
In North West Lok Sabha Seat, Congress has named Delhi working president Rajesh Litothia against Hans Raj Hans of Bharatiya Janata Party and Gugan Singh Ranga of Aam Aadmi Party.
In 2014, Udit Raj of BJP won the seat. However, Raj has been replaced by Hansraj Hans for the mega battle of ballots. Following which Raj joined Indian National Congress.
General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. 59 seats under Phase-VI voted on May 12. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. Voting of the remaining 59 constituencies will be held in last and seventh phase of polling slated for May 19.
All 7 Lok Sabha seats of the national elections voted on May 12, Sunday.
