Gearing up for the Lok Sabha Polls which are now days away, the Indian National Congress on Monday released its another list of 2 Candidates for the mega battle of ballots. The Rahul Gandhi-led party in the list named both the Candidates from Jharkhand.

The Party’s central election Committee named Kirti Azad to contest from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad against BJP‘s Sitting MP Pashupati Nath Singh. Singh had in 2014 won the seat by over a margin of 2.50 Lakh votes.

The party in the list also named Kalicharan Munda from Khunti ST seat.

It is noteworthy that Kirti Azad is currently an Outgoing MP from Bihar’s Darbhanga which had won in 2014 on Bharatiya Janata Party. Kirti Azad, 60, spent over two decades in the BJP and is a three-time parliamentarian from Bihar’s Darbhanga.

He has been suspended from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for alleged anti-party activities. Before his suspension, he was a critic of Bhartiya Janata Party.

Azad was seeking ticket from the same parliamentary seat but Darbhanga seat went to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in a poll pact of Grand Alliance. Suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad had in February earlier this year joined Congress in Presence Of Rahul Gandhi.

Congress in Jharkhand has forged an alliance with Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and RJD.

With this list, the party has so far released the names of 376 Parliamentary Seats.

Party in its first list maintaining the tradition has fielded its President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, while United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will be on electoral fray from home turf – Rae Bareli.

Apart from this, the Congress President will also contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat in Kerela.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Lok Sabha Polls are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Voting to 14 Lok Sabha Seats of the state will take place in four phases- April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.

Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
