Intensifying its Hunt to make a comeback in the Centre, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday calling it a historic move announced Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme assuring 72,000 annually for India’s poorest families if his party (Congress) voted to power in the General Elections 2019.

Rahul Gandhi in a presser Conference said, ‘Congress party promises that India’s 20%, most poor families will get yearly ₹72,000 rupees in their bank accounts under minimum basic income guarantee scheme‘.

Congress President claimed that the proposed Scheme will benefit 5 crore families. He further added that beneficiary will directly receive that money in their bank accounts.

Further revealing the details about the proposed Schemes, Rahul Gandhi said the scheme Nyuntam Aay Yojana ‘NYAY’ a name given by his sister and Party newly inducted General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Congress Working Committee. He said that proposed scheme NYAY will begin the final assault on poverty.

While hailing the proposed Scheme, Rahul Gandhi said ‘it is a powerful, dynamic and well-thought Idea. We have been studying this for the last four-five months’. He added this will ensure justice to the poor.

The NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) or the Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme will be the top agenda of the party in a run-up to the General Elections 2019.

Earlier in January, while Addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh, Congress President Rahul Gandhi for the first time announced that his party would ensure minimum income guarantee for every poor in the country if it returns to power after the Lok Sabha polls due in April-May.

Congress in a run-up to the General Elections 2019 has also announced ‘Right to Healthcare’ that seeks to create a system whereby a person can walk into any hospital for treatment. The addition in the manifesto is seen as to counter BJP Government ‘Modicare’.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on Sunday declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Counting of votes for the crucial battle of ballots will be announced May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
