Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday took oath as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha. Congress President Rahul Gandhi won the polls from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat in Kerala.
Minutes before taking oath as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi in tweeted that it’s my 4th consecutive term as a Member of the Lok Sabha begins today.
‘Representing Wayanad, Kerala, I begin my new innings in Parliament by taking my oath this afternoon, affirming that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India’, he said in a tweet on Monday.

Rahul Gandhi won the Lok Sabha Polls with a heavy margin of over 4.30 Lakh votes from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat. He defeated his opponent PP Sunner of CPI-M in the recently held national polls. However, Gandhi lost its stronghold Amethi by 55,000 votes by BJP‘s Smriti Irani.
While the Budget Session Lok Sabha has begun today, with the swearing-in ceremony of newly-elected MPs that will be spread over two days. Among other MPs who took oath on Monday include Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari, Harsimrat Kaur Badal among others were administrated oath by Protem Speaker Dr. Virendra Kumar.
PM Narendra Modi was the first one who took oath on Monday.
In the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha that begins from today, the new government plans aims to convert 10 ordinances into law. All those ordinances were approved by the Union Cabinet in February-March this year by the previous government.
Election to elect a new Speaker of the House will be held on June 19th. While the President Ram Nath Kovind will address the joint session of both the houses Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – on 20th June.
The Economic Survey will be released on the 4th of July a day before. While next day, that is on July 5th, new Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the full-fledged budget in the House.
