Congress Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday racked up the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government over Priyanka Gandhi‘s detention. Surjewala said that Priyanka Gandhi was detained when she was on her way to Sonbhadra and later she was taken into the Chunar Guest House in Mirzapur where electricity and water supply was cut off.

Slamming the Chief Minister, Randeep Singh Surjewala said there is a ‘Jungle Raj’ in his state and he wants to deport Priyanka Gandhi from the state.

Further training guns on the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government, Surjewal took to social networking site Twitter. ‘BJP Govt fails to prevent Sonbhadra Massacre! BJP Govt fails to act against guilty! BJP Govt illegally arrests Priyankaji for wanting to meet families! BJP Govt cuts Elect/Water of Chunar Guest House where she is held! BJP Govt now wants to deport her from U.P! Jungle Raj!’, said Congress Communication Cell Chief Surjewala.

Earlier on Friday, Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP Police when she was on her way to Sonbhadra to meet the family of those killed in July 17 firing incident. Uttar Pradesh Police, citing the imposition of Section 144, taken Priyanka Gandhi into detention. She was later taken to Chunar Guest House, Mirzapur from Varanasi.

Slamming the Uttar Pradesh Government, Priyanka Gandhi in a tweet said, ‘I have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh administration for the last nine hours and kept in the Chunar Fort. The administration is saying that I have to be granted bail of 50,000 otherwise I will be sentenced to 14 days in jail, but they will not let me go to Sonbhadra so they have an ‘order from above’.

In a series of tweets, She continued training guns on Uttar Pradesh Government. She said that she will meet the family of those killed in Sonbhadra and dared the government to arrest her if they want to. ‘If the Government wants to put me in jail for the crime of meeting the victims, I am fully prepared for it’, she said in a series of tweet.

In another tweet, She said, ‘The UP Government sent ADG Varanasi Shri Brij Bhushan, Varanasi Commissioner Shri Deepak Aggarwal, Commissioner Mirjapur, DIG Mirjapur to tell me that I should go without meeting the families of the victims. Everybody has been sitting with me for an hour. Neither have given me any grounds to keep me in custody nor given the papers’.

In the meantime, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also slammed the Uttar Pradesh Government saying it as ‘Illegal arrest’. Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The illegal arrest of Priyanka in Sonbhadra, UP, is disturbing. This arbitrary application of power, to prevent her from meeting families of the 10 Adivasi farmers brutally gunned down for refusing to vacate their own land, reveals the BJP Govt’s increasing insecurity in UP’.

The firing incident took place in Ubbha Village of Ghorawal where the head of the village went to take the possession of the land which he purchased two years ago. However, the Village Head met with Opposition from the villagers which triggered the firing that led to the death of 9 people.
