Amid ongoing crisis in the grand old political party, Congress on Thursday announced that it will not take party in news Debates for a month and asked all their spokerspersons to stay away from participating in news debate.

Announcing the move, Congress Communication In-Charge Randeep Surjewala requested all the media channels not to place any representative of the party in their news debates. Surjewala in a tweet said, ‘. has decided to not send spokespersons on television debates for a month. All media channels/editors are requested to not place Congress representatives on their shows’.

Many Senior Leaders have tried to convince him and requested him not to tender resignation. Leaders believed that the party cannot afford to have a new leader at the core at this time to build party organizationally.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Tuesday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi in his residence in the national capital.

The Congress had on Saturday held its Working Committee meeting to discuss the reasons responsible for its poor performance in the recently held national polls 2019. Rahul Gandhi taking moral responsibility of defeat had on Saturday offered his resignation and ask party leaders to get a new name for party president post.

The Congress faced a humiliating defeat in national polls and won 52 seats, which is only 8 more than it got in 2014 national polls. It has also lost some of its strongholds across the country including Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and Jyotiraditya Scindia‘s Guna in Madhya Pradesh.
