After months of yes, no and maybe with Aam Aadmi party over possible Alliance, the Indian National Congress has decided to finalize the names of its Candidates in Delhi and an official announcement on the same is possible this week. In its Delhi Hunt, erstwhile Bastion of the party, Congress wants its three-time Chief Minister Sheila Dixit to be in the fray for the mega polls 2019.

However, Sources Claimed that Dixit has sought time from the party to discuss with her family. Sources familiar with the development said the Congress has asked her to take on AAP’s Atishi from Delhi East Parliamentary Constituency – a seat which had in past represented by Sandeep Dixit, son of Sheila Dixit twice.

Sandeep Dixit had in 2009 and 2004 represented the Delhi East Lok Sabha. Currently, the seat is held by BJP‘s Mahesh Giri. IN 2014 General Elections, Mahesh Giri won the seat with almost 2 lakh votes by defeating AAP’s Rajmohan Gandhi. Sandeep Dixit with a loss of over 43% votes ended up on third spot in the tally.

Sources familiar with the development claimed that party Central Election Committee is likely to meet this weekend and announcement of all 17 seats of both Delhi and Haryana is possible anytime soon.

A State Party functionary said Sheila Dixit will contest the polls if her son Sandeep Dixit declines to contest the mega polls 2019.

Meanwhile, The name of Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal is likely to be in the Candidate list along with DPCC Former Chief Ajay Maken. Party likely to pitch Sibal from Chandni Chowk parliamentary seat.

While Other that are likely to make it to the list include, JP Agrawal and Ramesh Kumar. While Former DPCC Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely is also among the frontrunners for a ticket.

While Delhi State In-Charge PC Chacko on Friday talking about the possibilities of Alliance with AAP said, ‘AAP wanted to have an alliance in other states also which is not practical. Every state is different; we will announce the seats tomorrow or day after tomorrow. If they are ready for an alliance in Delhi with Congress, we are ready even today’.

However, it is now almost clear that both AAP and Congress will now go on its own in Delhi and in other states too.

AAP in a run-up to the mega polls 2019 has already announced candidates on all seven seats of Delhi.
