Amid the uncertain political environment of the Maharashtra state, another independent MLA Manjula Gavit extended her support to Shiv Sena on Wednesday.

Manjula Gavit represents Sakri Assembly Constituency in the state.

MLA Manjula Gavit is said to have submitted an official letter confirming her support to Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree. She also had a meeting with Shiv Sena secretary Milind Narvekar earlier in the day.

This recent extension of support by MLA Manjula Gavit is another string in the series of independent MLAs supporting big players in Maharashtra. Previously, several independent MLAs including Prahar Janshakti Party chief Bacchu Kadu, his party MLA Rajkumar Patel, Ashish Jaiswal, Narendra Bhondekar and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-backed independent MLA Shankarrao Gadakh have also iterated their support to Uddhav Thackeray’s party.

Rajkumar Patel, the MLA of Prakash Janshakti Party in Melghat Assembly constituency has also extended his support to the Shiv Sena.

The ongoing tussle between Shiv Sena and BJP has divided the independent candidates on either side in the state.

It has also been reported that Shiv Sena will hold its legislative party meeting on Thursday.

In the polls, BJP had secured 105 seats while Shiv Sena sealed the victory on 56 seats. This result put BJP on a backfoot where it can be seen resorting to increase its strength to counter the demands of Shiv Sena in government formation.

On similar lines, BJP has also been receiving the support of various independent candidates in the state. Independent candidate MLA Rajendra Raut, Yuva Swabhiman Party MLA Ravi Rana and MLA Geeta Jain are some of the prominent names to have lent their support to the saffron party.
