The United Nation Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is currently supporting more than 120 projects in 25 countries by providing them with relevant and fast fund supply. India is one of the most influential members of the United Nation Peacebuilding Fund since December 2005. India has contributed $5 million to UN Peacebuilding Fund in the past and has made a fresh contribution of $500,000 on 1st July 2017. This contribution was made to launch funds that will support all the activities, programmes and organisations that seek to build peace in the country.

At the Fund’s Annual Stakeholders’ meeting, UN Ambassador, Tanmaya Lal, reportedly said that India always wanted a sustainable development which includes economic growth and political processes for preventing conflicts as well as undertaking effective peacebuilding efforts. He also mentioned that this contribution was not easy to make but it was necessary for the sustainable investments and long-term commitments for vastly expanded funds.

Through this contribution, India is expecting more efforts from world body to build and sustain peace.
