After days of Tensions with Pakistan following Pulwama Terror Attack and Balakot Air Strikes, a delegation from Pakistan is set to visit India on today for talks on the draft agreement on Kartarpur Corridor to finalize the modalities for setting up the corridor.

Official Sources claimed that that the meeting that slated to take place at Indian end of the Attari-Wagah border will see India pressing for is likely to press for hassle-free travel of Indian pilgrims to the Pakistani side. Sources further claimed that India will ask Pakistan to allow Pilgrims to the Gurudwara without Visa.

The Delegation that will hold parleys with Pakistan side will be comprised of – Representatives of Union Home Ministry, Defence Ministry, Border Security Forces, others.

Sources further said that the meeting is not a public event hence Pakistani journalists have been denied visa that wanted to come to cover the ‘Deliberations’

The corridor is considered to open as a part of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in 2019 that will spread in 50 acres and will be developed in two phases.

India and Pakistan in November last year agreed to set up the border crossing linking Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. In 2018, November 26, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh along with Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone of the Kartarpur corridor in Gurdaspur district.

While days later on November 28, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone of the corridor in Narowal District of Pakistan.

Kartarpur Sahib, which is situated in Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province,  is a Sikh place of worship where Guru Nanak is believed to have spent the last 18 years of his life.

It comes days after tension between India and Pakistan de-escalating for now following the Pulwama attack and IAF’s strikes on terror camps in Balakot.
