Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was mesmerised by the hospitality of Indian Community in Washington on 25 June, during his two day stop in US. Many programs were organised by the Indian-Americans for the welcome of Modi. One if them was a community reception organised at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Only leaders of the community organisations and eminent Indian-Americans from across the country were invited for the reception.

While addressing the community reception, Modi spoke about the surgical strike conducted by India across the LoC in September 2016. He clearly conveyed the message that India was capable enough to defend itself and just because it withholds it power against terrorism, does not mean that it cannot show its power when needed. He further added that, with the help of the surgical strike, India has been successful in spreading the message across the world that India is strictly against terrorism and totally condemns it.

He taunted that 20 years back when India bought up the issue of terrorism, nobody paid attention saying that it was a law and order problem and dint understand it. Now the terrorist explained to the world what terrorism is and Indian dint have to do it.

India conducted surgical strikes on terror pads across the LoC on September 29 last year after the Uri attack. Modi said India has been a victim of terrorism, but “the world did not and cannot stop us. We have succeeded in conveying to the world the deleterious effects of terrorism on India.”

Indirectly targeting China, Modi said that unlike some nations India believed in following the world order and achieved its goals by following global rules. He said that this was India’s tradition and culture, to abide by the global rules. Modi also spoke the current corruption free government of India, constantly working towards developing India and improving the quality of life of the Indians. Further adding he said that Indian government had alone taken 7000 reforms for the development of business opportunities in India.
