While Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his two day tour to US on 25 June to meet the US President Donald Trump, the Indian-Americans back in US are enthusiastically preparing for the welcome of Modi. The community is planning a number of events for the PM and is trying to extend its hospitality at every possible venue Modi is likely to visit.

For the welcome, a small reception is organised at the a Virginia suburb of Washington DC. The Sunday reception is held only for leaders of the community organisations and eminent Indian-Americans from across the country. Unlike that organised in New York and Silicon Valley this is a smaller event. It will be held inside a hotel premises and though only people with invitation are allowed, people from all across the country are flying down and taking long hour drive just to have a glimpse of the Indian leader.

Apart from this, several organisations have planned a string of events for the PM along with the US-India Summit on Monday.

The East West Centre in Washington and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with the Senate India Caucus and the House India Caucus will launch ‘India Matters for America/America Matters for India’, a publication and web resource for credible and nonpartisan information, graphics, analysis, and news at the national and state level on US-India interactions.

The publication will help the US Government, business, and academia to understand the relations shared between India and US and how over the period of time it has moved towards greater cooperation in matters of regional security, trade, and cultural exchange.

Another event is organised by the Hudson Institute with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to hold discussions on building stronger trade relations between India and the US on Monday. A panel of six eminent business men and government officials will also have meeting with Modi and discuss about ways to advance economic bonds through innovation, global supply chain integration, investment, and more.

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) will also be organising a small conference on 25 June. The conference will be addressed by Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge, foreign affairs dept of the Bharatiya Janata Party and an editor of book ‘Modi Doctrine: New Paradigms in India’s Foreign Policy’.

Indiaspora will also be hosting a small reception to welcome the Indian Prime Minister.

Meanwhile entire Indian community is gearing up to welcome the Prime Minister, separatist Sikh and Kashmiri groups has said that they will be holding Anti-India rally in front of the White House.
