Uttar Pradesh government has a reserved amount every year as the Gau Sewa Ayog, given to the gaushala for the protection of cows. During the rule of Akhilesh Yadav government nearly for all the five years of his rule 86% of the total grant went to CM’s sister-in-law Aparna Yadav‘s Jeev Ashraya NGO, which runs a Kanha Upwan gaushala near Amausi, owned by Lucknow Nagar Nigam.

As per the data provided by the Gau Sewa Ayog’s PIO Sanjay Yadav, in the five-year period between 2012 to 2017, the Ayog gave a total grant of Rs 9.66 crore, of which Rs 8.35 crore was given only to Jeev Ashraya. During the fiscal year of 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 Jeev Ashraya was the only NGO to get this grant. An amount of 50 lakh, Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 1.41 crore were given to the NGO respectively in these three years in the name of Gau Sewa Ayog for the protection of cows. In the following year 2015-16, of the total grant of 2.99 crore, Jeev Ashraya got the amount of 2.58 crore, while Sripad Baba gaushala, Vrindavan got. Rs 41 lakh. Similarly in 2016-17, of the total amount of 3.45 crore, Jeev Ashraya received Rs 2.55 crore, while the rest was given to other gaushalas.

But interestingly after Yogi Adityanath came to power, Jeev Ashraya did not receive any grant for the protection of cows in the fiscal year of 2017-18. RTI activist Nutan Thakur said that the data reveled clearly shows the scams being carried out under the SP regime, with 86% of the grant going to only one NGO.
