Country’s apex court, Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to the former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in Enforcement Directorate investigation till Monday. But, he will continue to be under 4-day CBI custody.

He has been sent to 4-day custody of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) under the orders of Delhi court. Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar has though directed the officials to conduct a medical examination of Chidambaram as per the rules and ensure that Chidambaram’s “personal dignity is not violated in any manner”.

Delhi High court had earlier rejected the pleas of minister for seeking immediate relief in the case. Political activist and a lawyer representing Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal described to Court that the Delhi high court order was completely copied from ED notes. He said if Court does copy-paste thing, how his client will get relief.

As of now, the Supreme Court had provided him with interim protection from arrest till August 26. Now matters regarding ED investigation will be heard on the coming Monday. After the order of bail was passed, Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta wanted to give some documents to Court to read. Those documents are said to be the evidence collected by Enforcement Directorate.

However, Kapil Sibal and Singhvi had objected saying this had previously happened in the High Court. Thus Supreme Court denied it and said that everything will be taken up on Monday.

P Chidambaram was arrested by CBI on Wednesday night in a high-end political chase. He has been found to be involved in INX media scam.
