Andhra Pradesh new Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday directed officials to speed up the work of Polavaram Project. Jagan Mohan held a review meeting with the officials and seek the current status and the whereabouts of the completion of the Polavaram Project.

Replying to Chief Minister’s query, Principal Secretary of irrigation who Sasibushan Kumar informed that till now 11,537 crores have been spent by the state government while 4,810 crores have to be reimbursed by the central government.

Kumar added almost 12,000 crores is needed more to complete the civil work while 27,000 crores are needed for Rehabilitation and Resettlement package.

Asserting that he wants a corruption-free government in the state, Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would felicitate those officials who would reveal the irregularities.

Jagan Mohan Reddy in the review meeting also directed the officials to prepare a plan to utilize the Godavari water going waste to the sea. He said officials should come up with innovative ideas to divert Godavari water to other parts of the state by storing it in tanks and reservoirs.

He also asked the officials to prepare a status report of all projects and would inspect Polavaram Project soon. He said he will again review things on June 6.

Earlier, Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday directed the officials to prepare a brief report about the financial condition of the state. The report will be placed before the 15th Finance Commission stressing the need for the special status to Andhra Pradesh.

Minutes after taking oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday announced ₹3000 as pension to senior citizens in the state. Speaking from the state where he took the oath.

Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP in recently held polls registered a landslide victory in both assembly and national polls in the state. YRSCP won 151 assembly seats out of the 175 assembly seat in the state and unseat Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP Government.

While in national polls, YSRCP bag 22 Lok Sabha Seats out of 25 seats in the state.
