Bhartiya Janta Party‘s MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal who gathered thousands of applause on his passionate speech on Ladakh’s culture told media that he is currently in talks with Union Ministers to step up the infrastructure development in the Union territory of Ladakh.

Lok Sabha member says he had received a very positive response from at least 4 Union ministers for several projects crucial for the region. The ministers include Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Sehrawat, Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh and Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda.

He, as quoted by ANI said, “I have held discussion with Rail Minister Piyush Goyal on transport connectivity in Ladakh region especially during winters when it remains cut off from rest of the country. There is Leh Upshi and Bilaspur- ManaliLeh rail line. We need to remain connected throughout the year. It is crucial from a security perspective as well.”

Earlier, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal had asked the Central government to declare Ladakh as a tribal area in order to preserve the identity of the newly created Union Territory.

Towing on the similar line, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda had also inaugurated Aadi Mahotsav. The event aimed to give a platform to the tribal artisans of the region for getting their registration with the ministry.

Ladakh is currently facing many administrative and policy issues such as connectivity, water scarcity, etc.
