Justice RS Chauhan has been recommended for the position of Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.
The SC collegium has recommended the name of Justice RS Chauhan for the position of Telangana Chief Justice. Justice RS Chauhan has been holding the position of the acting Chief Justice of HC since the time Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan left and the position fell vacant.
Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan was the first Chief Justice of Telangana High Court who has now been transferred to the Calcutta High Court and the position of the chief justice has been lying vacant since March.
“Office of the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, which has recently been constituted as separate High Court for the State of Telangana, has been lying vacant for some time. Therefore, appointment to that office is required to be made.
Mr. Justice R.S. Chauhan is the senior-most Judge from Rajasthan High Court and at present is functioning in Telangana High Court as Acting Chief Justice. Having regard to all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that Mr. Justice R.S. Chauhan is suitable in all respects for being appointed as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. The Collegium resolves to recommend accordingly,” reads the notification of the collegium dated May 10.
