Kamal Haasan will begin campaign for Valarum Tamilgam party’s candidate M. Gandhi on May 3.

Actor-turned-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam‘s (MNM) founder, Kamal Haasan, will begin campaign for M. Gandhi of Valarum Tamilgam party on May 3. He is also expected to campaign for P. Sakthivel, G. Mayilsami and S. Mohanraj. Earlier he had asked the people not to vote for forces that break the country. ““What are your options? One party is being operated from inside the jail. Another party has to go to jail. The third party has already gone to jail and come out. These are your choices,” he said, without naming any party,” he said.

Indirectly taking a dig at BJP, he had said,“Gandhi was shot on January 30. Who killed him?” The crowd replied, “Godse. He was from the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).”

Kamal Haasan had started his campaign for the upcoming by-polls in the state from Chennai South Lok Sabha constituency. However, MNM has been witnessing its candidates quitting the party with CK Kumaravel, the core leader first quitting the party followed by Navin Karthik, its youth wing secretary, and Venkatesan, Cuddalore in-charge quitting the party.

On quitting the political party, Kumaravel had said, “There are many people who are not satisfied with Kamal Haasan. As far as I am concerned, I did not expect anything and therefore, I quit the party. I don’t know about others. There is a huge gap between Kamal Haasan and the party’s office-bearers. This party functions solely on WhatsApp messages. We get to know about the party’s updates on WhatsApp.”
