Kamal Hassan delivered a speech at Harvard University on Saturday. The actor-turned-politician said that all wasn’t well with his home state, Tamil Nadu. The speech touched upon creating a corruption-free Tamil Nadu.

The actor has also been asked about a possible alliance with Rajnikanth. On the matter, he said that Rajnikanth has a ‘hue of saffron’ in his speech. He didn’t rule out the possibility of the alliance if he wasn’t inclined to the ‘saffron’ side. He said that it was necessary he would join hands with others. But he said that a post-poll alliance wouldn’t be possible.  He condemned Hindu terrorism and the violence of the right-wing ideology. Rajnikanth has been known to have good ties with BJP.

He announced the idea of adopting a village from every district of Tamil Nadu and planned on making them the best villages in the world. He spoke about going back to the grassroots and would progress to every district from there. Kamal Hassan recently made his entry into politics and is set to unveil his political party. His political tour will begin on 21st February. The tour named, ‘Nalai Namadhe‘ will begin from Rameswaram. It’s too early to make any predictions, considering that both actors are yet to find their ground in politics.

The film star, Hassan also recalled Gandhi’s ideology and his self-reliance. He also mentioned that he wants to work with the people and not the politicians. Hassan has also begun a new online platform maiam.com to receive suggestions from people and begin discussions. He did say that a new revolution was on its way where love would triumph over hate. If all goes well, Hassan will be a political force in Tamil Nadu to reckon with. But, this will require time and the right connections that go beyond the people’s faith and support.
