If Reports to be believed, the Congress has unanimously decided to appoint Kamal Nath as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. According to the report, the announcement would be made at 5 PM.

Kamal Nath would likely take oath on December 14 along with dozen other ministers. Congress’ Rajasthan leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have already met party president Rahul Gandhi over the issue and have returned to their state. The Name of CM post in Rajasthan is also likely to be announced today by evening.

The Congress secured 114 seats in the recently concluded Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, falling two short of the majority in the 230-seat Assembly. However, help came in the form of both BSP and SP extending support. BSP Supremo Mayawati on Wednesday extends its support to the Congress in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in a bid to keep BJP away from power. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav also extends its support to Congress. The two have 2 and 1 seat respectively in the Assembly.

A report also suggested that four Independents, all Congress rebels, are also likely to extend support.

In Rajasthan Assembly Elections, the Congress secured 99 seats, falling one short of the majority. Here, RLD, with its 1 MLA has extended support and so has Mayawati’s BSP.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigned as the Madhya Pradesh chief minister on Wednesday, taking complete responsibility for the BJP’s ouster from power in the heartland state.

The two-time former chief minister and General Secretary of All India Congress Committee Ashok Gehlot, and former Member of Parliament and Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot are in line for the CM post in Rajasthan.
