Parties in Karnataka are moving into their second phase of campaigning in the upcoming elections. The Congress, in the second half of its ‘Janaashirvada Yatra‘ is planning to release its manifesto for the state elections. The manifesto will be released by the president of AICC Rahul Gandhi.

The manifesto will be released between March 10th and 15th. This will be the first manifesto congress releases of this kind. Gandhi will be travelling to Belagavi on 24th February, he will then address a public meeting in Athani. He will then travel by helicopter to reach Trikota in the Bijapur constituency and will attend a women’s meet there. Rahul Gandhi will then take part in a half-marathon in Bijapur on the 25th morning. This time he is expected to talk about the Mahadayi water issue. There is no news of temples during this visit although one can’t rule it out.

The manifesto will be a three-tier one and will be released at the district, regional and at the state level. The implementation of the manifesto is said to transform the lives of the people in Karnataka. Veerappa Moily said that the Siddaramaiah led Congress had fulfilled 98% of the promises they made in 2013. The manifesto is expected to touch upon hunger, eradication of poverty, and creation of wealth.

Congress might have grand plans for their campaign in the state but are seeing much confusion over who to give the ticket to. KPCC’s president G. Parameshwara attributed it to the ‘vibrant’ nature of the party, that it is enthusiasm in display. But with NA Harris’ son’s issue, it is not certain who will get the ticket and who won’t. Will tickets be given to those who deserve it? There’s an intense battle brewing between the parties and Karnataka seems to be a battleground, work is underway, but all is not done yet.
