Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday cancelled his scheduled visit to Delhi on a day when 21 opposition parties will be meeting Election Commission over the VVPAT-EVM Verification Issue.

The Karnataka leader is skipping his visit to the national capital at a time when the opposition parties are facing intense heat after almost All Exit Polls predicted a landslide victory of the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

It should be noted that a delegation of 21 opposition parties led by Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu will meet ECI officials today.

It is expected that opposition will pitch for the demand of cross checking VVPAT with EVMs in an entire Assembly segment, in case a discrepancy is found in any polling booth during counting.

Janata Dal (Secular) Supremo HD Deve Gowda had on Saturday reiterated his support to Congress. Speaking to media, Deve Gowda said, ‘We are with Congress, I don’t want to speak anything more. On 23rd results will come, a clear picture will be known to the entire country & what further development takes place’.

Both, JD(S) and Congress have forged an alliance in the state with 21:7 seats sharing formula in Karnataka. Congress after Karnataka State Polls last year has extended Support to JD(S) and Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy with an aim to keep BJP out of the power.

Karnataka’s 28 Lok Sabha seats voted in two phases on April 18 and April 23.

It should be noted that almost all exit polls on Sunday predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to return in power.

Most of the exit polls predicted a clear Majority to Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with above 300 seats.
