Days before the start of upcoming Parliament Session, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) held its Party Parliamentary meeting on Thursday to elect Party Leader for Both houses and to chalk out the strategy for the Parliament Session. The meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan, Hyderabad and was chaired by the TRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.

In a meeting, the Telangana ruling party finalized the names of TRS Parliamentary Party leader, party’s Leader in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. All the name were elected unanimously.

Senior MP Dr. K Keshav Rao was elected as the TRS Parliamentary Party leader. While TRS MP from Khammam Lok Sabha Seat Sri Nama Nageswara Rao was elected as the Party’s leader in Lok Sabha. While Dr. Keshav Rao was elected as the Party’s leader in Rajya Sabha.

While Lok Sabha MP BB Patil was appointed as the TRS Party Whip in Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha MP K Prabhakar Reddy appointed as the Deputy floor leader in the Lok Sabha.

While in the Rajya Sabha, TRS MP from Upper House Banda Prakash Mudiraj will be the Deputy floor leader in the Rajya Sabha. TRS Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar J will be party’s whip in the Rajya Sabha.

The meeting comes days before the commencement of Parliament Session. The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha will begin from June 17th and will continue till July 26. While the President Ram Nath Kovind will address the sitting of both the houses on June 20.

The Economic Survey will be released on the 4th of July a day before. While next day, that is on July 5th, new Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the full-fledged budget in the House.

In recently concluded national polls, TRS bagged 9 Lok Sabha Seats, while BJP and Congress bag 4 and 3 seats respectively. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi retains Hyderabad Lok Sabha Seat with over 2.5 Lakh votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s victory on 4 Lok Sabha Seats has surprised many because the saffron party could only win a single seat in Telangana State polls held in December last year.

Despite TRS bagging 9 seats in Telangana, its heavyweight leader K. Kavitha, the daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao lost to BJP leader Arvind Dharmapuri by a margin of 71,057 votes from Nizamabad Lok Sabha Seat. This is seen as a big setback for the party in the state where they were expected the make a clean sweep.
