Intensifying his demand for Full Statehood for Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday made a big announcement. Chief Minister while speaking in Delhi Assembly on Saturday said that he will start Indefinite Hunger Strike from March 1 for Full Statehood for Delhi. “From 1 March we will launch the movement to make Delhi a full state and we will not end it till Delhi gets full statehood” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in Delhi Assembly as reported by ANI.

Kejriwal added, ‘Democracy has been implemented in the entire nation, but not in Delhi. Public votes and select a government, but the government has no power. So we are starting a movement on March 1 and I will sit on indefinite fast for the full statehood Delhi’.

Kejriwal’s Decision to sit on Indefinite Hunger Strike days after he promised Full Statehood for Delhi if his party (AAP) will win all seven seats.
Earlier, Speaking at a public rally at Azadpur, Delhi Chief Arvind Kejriwal pitched for Full statehood for Delhi. “Ten years from the day Delhi is given the status of full statehood, I will give every Delhiite a concrete house to live in. This time do not vote to elect the Prime Minister. Vote to get full statehood for Delhi,” he said.

Aam Aadmi Party has intensified its Demand for Full Statehood with the Lok Sabha Elections approaching closer. Earlier this week on Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said it will hold a door-to-door campaign to tell people how the BJP had done them “injustice” on the issue.
AAP’s Demand for Statehood for Delhi intensifies on the backdrop of Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy‘s Dharna against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi. However, Puducherry CM called off Protest after meeting with Kiran Bedi.
Earlier this week on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal during his visit to Puducherry CM asserted for Statehood for Delhi and Puducherry. Delhi CM on his way to Puducherry said, ‘We will demand that both Delhi and Puducherry be made full (fledged) states. There is no reason why people of these states should be discriminated against.’
The AAP has raised the full statehood demand again after the Supreme Court ruled on the matter of division of powers between the elected government and the Lieutenant Governor.
