Rejecting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s comments on Sabarimala Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that it was the central government that order for prohibitory orders in Sabarimala ahead of violence in the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan rubbished allegations holding him responsible for the prohibitory orders taken in Sabarimala saying it was the central government under Narendra Modi that had issued for prohibitory orders in the state ahead of clashes in the state. Pinarayi Vijayan read out the home ministry’s order in a press conference in Kannur in Kerala that asked the state government to take necessary action regarding the situation that pertained in Sabarimala at the time. He was responding to the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s statement if there was any proof on behalf of the Chief minister for his staement against the center.

He read out the circular mentioning 11034/01/2018, ISIB, Government of India, ministry of home affairs, internal security, first division, which asked the state government to take necessary action concerning the law and order situation in the state.  The circular read, “Appropriate prohibitory orders be issued and a close watch maybe kept on dissemination of adverse information through social media and internet services to ensure that no breach of law and order takes place”. Pinarayi Vijayan further mentions that though Narendra Modi government talks about preserving tradition in Sabarimala he can only stand with the Indian law when it comes under the duty of a Prime Minister to stand with the SC. That is what the Kerala government has also done,” he states.

In a rally at Mangaluru, PM Modi had said, “In Kerala the communists have created such a situation that no person can take the name of god Ayyappa. if you say Sabarimala, there will be a case file against you, you wil be jailed… Is this democracy?”
