Kerala’s high-voltage election campaign comes to an end with small clashes

Clashes erupted in Kerala on the final day of campaigning as all groups were to end up their campaigns.

Of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state, 227 candidates from various constituencies are contesting. There is approximately a total of 25,408,711 voters in the state. In the campaign or ‘kalashakottu’ as it is called,many incidents of clashes happened in the state and people were injured.

UDF candidate Ramya Haridas as well as Wadakkancherry’s MLA Anil Akkara were injured. “Ramya and Wadakkancherry MLA Anil Akkara were injured while campaigning near the Taluk hospital in Alathur after LDF and UDF candidates clashed and pelted stones at one another. The duo was admitted to the hospital after they were injured in the stone pelting,” a coordinator of Ramya’s campaign told TNM.

PM Narendra Modi addressed a poll rally in the state on Thursday. Rahul Gandhi conducted his rallies in Kerala with Priyanka following Priyanka Gandhi holding her last rally in the state on Saturday.

Congress MP and candidate from Thiruvanathapuram, Shashi Tharoor was stopped at his rally when Tharoor and AK Antony where conducting their rally in Veli. They were allegedly stopped by leftists.

All the constituencies in Kerala are to go to polls on the 23rd. the capital city witnessed traffic jams at the day with all political parties busy at their campaigns in the state.
