Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju saluted Indian patriots in London after clashes erupt as British Lord called for Azad Kashmir on Friday.

Kiren Rijuju tweeted to express his joy, “Salute to the Indian patriots in London. The minuscule fringe elements can’t dent the spirit of India. We are all one from Arunachal Pradesh to Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland to Rann of Kutch, Kanyakumari to Punjab.”

Controversy- As it happened

A pro-Pakistan leader and controversial leader going by the name Lord Nazir Ahmed sits in the House of Lords. He tried sparking a ‘black day’ protest, and consequently, many Indian and British groups outside the Indian High Commission in London vehemently countered his try. While Lord Nazir led hundreds of demonstrators calling for independence for Kashmir and Khalistan, an equal number of counter-protesters broke scuffles. The matter pacified only after police intervention.

The consortium of Lord Nazir, British Friends of Kashmir and other community leaders engineered the protest. Tehreek-e-Kashmir conducted seminars and protests across UK and Europe. As a part of the demonstration, five vans were driven around London. The vans had posters depicting Indian crimes to highlight Indian brutality in Kashmir, Punjab, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur and against Dalits.

Lord Nazir has a scandalous history which includes a conviction for dangerous driving. The Labour Party ousted him for his anti-Semitic views and sympathy towards radical Islamists. Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur, President of World Kashmir Freedom Movement (WKFM) and Fahim Kayani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir declared India a rogue nation run by terrorists. They also slammed India’s record on human rights violations.
