RJD’s chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in a statement, skipped the names of Rahul Gandhi and CM Nitish Kumar while giving the list of the leaders he thought were capable of contesting 2019 general elections. He showed his preference for Priyanka Gandhi over Congress‘ Vice-President, Rahul Gandhi. He even hinted for the Samajwadi Party-BSP alliance in 2019 polls.

He reportedly told media that, be it Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Robert Vadra, Priyanka Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Lalu Yadav’s family, Mamata Banerjee, efforts have been made to break them. He also said that if Mayawati and Akhilesh came into an alliance in 2019, no party would be able to beat them.

He further accused BJP of not keeping up to all the promises made by them in 2014. He has raised questions about MSP for farmers, black money from foreign banks, 2 crore jobs for youth. He said that he is unable to see ‘achche din’, as per PM Modi’s promise. He said that BJP is in power because Congress is divided.

In a meeting led by Lalu Prasad Yadav which included two of his sons, who hold a key position in the state assembly and Finance Minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui, he backed Congress’ decision of debarring GST session of Parliament.
