The last day for withdrawal of nominations for the second phase of Chhattisgarh Polls ended today. Out of 90 constituencies, 72 will go to polls on the 20th November. The last day for filing of nominations ended on Friday and scrutiny was held on Saturday.

The major political parties- BJP and Congress have released their list of candidates. Campaigning for the first phase is going on with full fervour in which 18 constituencies in eight naxal-affected districts will go to polls on the 12th November. Top leaders of various parties addressed rallies at various places to garner support for their candidates.

Around two thousand six hundred plus nominations were initially filed by the candidates in 72 assembly seats. After the scrutiny was done, one thousand two hundred and forty nine candidates will be contesting from these constituencies.

The highest number of candidates that is forty nine candidates is contesting from Raipur south constituency. There are also few candidates from BJP and Congress who have exited the party and have filed their nominations as independent. Most of these candidates have been denied ticket by their party.
