President Pranab Mukherjee‘s term ends on 24 July, ahead of his farewell, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude for him at the launch of a book ‘President A Statesman’ in Rashtrapati Bhawan. He said that “Like a father figure, Pranab Da has guided me. He would tell me, Modi ji please take adequate rest, take care of your health.”

Modi further praising the President said that he was lucky to have someone like Pranab Mukherjee, to guide him, when he first came to Delhi. He was privileged to have the opportunity to work with a great leader like Mukherjee.

Talking about the book, Modi said that it shows the features of a leader not only on the political front but also on the personal front. He said that the Presidency is much more than protocol and added that he was proud of Pranab Mukherjee. He further added that he has worked with leaders of different parties with different ideologies.

Pranab Mukherjee also spoke about the cordial relations he shared with Modi. He said that though both the leaders had difference of opinions on few matters, but those divergences always remained between the two and never hampered the working of PM and President’s offices. Though Mukherjee was against the idea of releasing a Photo essay of himself, but later agreed on the terms that it was necessary from the historical point of view, as the book archived history.

The book is a photographic essay of the 13th president of India released by the statesman. It covers Mukherjees presidency and documents his various roles and achievements. The book also shows the humane side of the President of India, who is an inspiration for all.
