Several opposition leaders are meeting up to discuss their presidential poll strategy as the process for the filing of nominations started for the Presidential election due on July 17.

BJP chief Amit Shah appointed 3 member committee to reach out to different parties and hold discussion on coming with a consensus for the candidate for the presidential poll. Non-NDA parties are also uniting together on one platform to file their candidate for the polls,  with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi making the effort.. Though the NDA are hoping to avoid the contest by luring all the parties to their side and filing just one nominations, contest is likely because the oppositions parties may not support the NDA candidate.

However, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan has made it clear that LJP will be supporting the NDA candidate. He said that whoever is chosen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party will back that name only. LJP is a constituent of the ruling NDA.
