Lok Sabha Polls 2019: Popular choreographer ‘Kala Master’ joins AMMK in Tamil Nadu

On Friday, Kala Master, a very popular choreographer in the south, joined TTB Dhinakaran’s AMMK(AMMA MAKKAL MUNNETTRA KAZAGAM).

On her official entry to the Party, TTB Dhinakaran got a serious boost ahead of the soon to be commenced Lok Sabha Polls. Tamil Nadu goes to polls in a single phase on April 18

The AMMK is likely to contest alone in all 39 constituencies.

DMK has tied up with the Congress, Left parties, the MDMK, VCK, IJK and KMDK.

In the state, AIADMK is in an alliance with the BJP, PMK, DMDK, PT, TMC and the New Justice Party.

Kala’s official entry was marked by the presence of AMMK Deputy General Secretary and RK Nagar MLA TTV Dhinakaran and former MLA P Vetrivel.

Kala, largely known as ‘Kala Master’ is a famously known trained classical dancer. She marked the beginning of her career as a choreographer at the age of 12.

Punnagai Mannan was her first film, by the renowned filmmaker Balachander. The film starred Kamal Hasan and Revathi. She had worked with famous filmmakers like KS Ravikumar, Mani Ratnam, Priyadarshan and many others.

‘Kala’ won a National Award for Best Choreography in the year 2000 for a Malayalam film and the Tamil Nadu State Award for best choreography for the film Chandramukhi.

Also, worked in over 4000 songs in various Indian languages and a few foreign languages.

In 1993, she opened a dance school named ‘Kalaalaya”.

Kala’s official entry into the TTB Dhinakaran’s AMMK, came a day after playback singer Mano joined the party.

The popular singer Mano has recorded over 30,000 songs in Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali.

Also, he is known for dubbing for actor Rajinikanth in Telugu.

‘Mano’ has won Tamil Nadu State Awards for the Best male singer. Other awards that he received are Filmfare award, Tamil Nadu government’s Kalaimamani Award and Nandi award from the government of Andhra Pradesh.

DMK’s M Karunanidhi, was also known for being a screenwriter, AIADMK’s MG Ramachandran, his wife Janaki Ramachandran and MGR’s political heir Jayalalithaa, were leading actors before becoming political leaders and Chief Ministers of the state.
