With a view of not taking criminals into the party, Samajwadi party (SP) chief denied entry to Afzal Ansari into the party whereas Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will field Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur constituency. In the wake of an alliance between SP and BSP, former SP leader Amar Singh hit out at the SP chief, Akhilesh Yadav if he will campaign for Afzal Ansari in a bid of campaigning for the alliance.

The Don-turned-politician, Afzal Ansari, was given a party ticket by BSP supremo, Mayawati. Afzal Ansari is the brother of Mukhtar Ansari.

Amar singh told ANI that former SP presidents Shivpal Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav brought a proposal of giving entry to Mukhtar Ansari and Afzal Ansari to the party. However, Akhilesh Yadav opposed and denied their entry to the party. Akhilesh Yadav wanted to portray a modern image of the party maintaining an image of the corruption free party by denying the entry of anyone who has criminal cases against them.

Amar Singh rose the speculation of Akhilesh Yadav’s resisteance against the entry of Afzal Ansari to the party for which he rebelled against his father and uncle would now campaign for him because of the ties with BSP. He said, “the irony is that that the mahagathbandhan is fighting against the BJP and Afazal Ansari is the candidate of BSP. With the alliance in effect will Babua (Akhilesh) work with Bua (Mayawati) and Ansari brothers when he decided previously of not allowing any criminal in his party.”

Uttar pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats. In the state the SP, BSP, and RLD are fighting against the national parties in an alliance. The SP will contest on 37 seats, BSP will contest on 38 seats, and RLD will contest on 3 seats. Congress will fight on two seats, Amethi and Rae Bareli.
