Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday issued a strict warning to the MPs against using mobile phones in the House.

The warning came after some opposition members had complained about BJP member Anurag Thakur, shooting video of their protests in the Well on July 24. AAP member Bhagwant Mann also wrote a letter to the Speaker regarding the same.

Sumitra Mahajan had suspended 6 Congress MPs on July 24 for their misconduct in the house. The suspended MPs had torn an thrown papers at the speaker and Thakur had recorded the shooting of this on his phone. Regarding this, the oppositions had raised questions on the use of mobile phones in the house.

Thakur also apologised saying that “Mobile se agar kisiko aapattee hai to … mein khed vyakt karta hoon (If someone has objections to (my) mobile, then I express my regret).”

Responding to the complaints Mahajan said she was not aware of the shooting and issued a stern warning saying that no mobile phones will be used during the proceedings of the session. She said “I am warning you… Dobara galti nahi honi chahiye (the mistake should not be repeated).”

When the session met after adjournment at 12:45 p.m. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded to know that why no action was taken against Thakur, where as in a previous case Mann had faced suspension for two sessions for shooting video outside the House.
