Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan filed nomination papers from Budhni seat in Sehore district on Monday. This is the fifth time Chouhan will be contesting from the Budhni. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the CM candidate from the BJP.

60 kilometres away from Sehore, Budhni is Chouhan’s home constituency from where he was first elected as MLA in 1990.

Chouhan was accompanied by his wife, Sadhna Singh, sons Kunal and Kartikey when he was filing his nomination. His election agent Ramakant Bhargava and lawyer Shrey Raj Saxena were also present.

Before going on to file his nomination, the CM took blessings from his clan’s deity as well as at the Narmada River which is considered holy by Hindus in Jait village.

Chouhan had also addressed his supporters before filing the nominations where he took a dig at the Congress party mocking the condition of roads during its rule which was actually before 2003.

“Everybody knows the number of roads constructed during our stint can easily outnumber the number of potholes that existed during the Congress regime,” he said. BJP is in power in state since 2003.

Referring to the prominent Congress leaders in the state he said, “Without taking my name their day is not completed. They did not like the development that took place during my tenure. Therefore, I have become a thorn in their eyes, whether it is raja, maharaja or udyogpati.”

Chouhan took over as Madhya Pradesh CM in 2005 and in 2006 contested from Budhni to get elected as the MLA. He also won from the same seat again in 2008 and 2013 assembly polls.
