Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi met a delegation of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee at her residence in the national capital today. The meeting was a much-awaited agenda since Sonia Gandhi was given the reins of the party.

The meeting aimed at discussing the formula of seat-sharing in the upcoming of the Assembly elections in the state. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Balasaheb Thorat told reporters that Sonia Gandhi took the feedback on the seat-sharing formula that was decided by the party leaders in the meeting.

He also told that the Congress party is in talks with many other parties in Maharashtra, though Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is an exception to this process. The party is coordinating with other regional parties to beat the Bhartiya Janta Party.

It is expected that the alliance of Congress and Nationalist Congress Party is the last stage of these talks. Previously on Wednesday, Sonia had held a meeting to discuss the state elections that are slated in Jharkhand. She is also expected to hold a meeting on the upcoming Haryana elections in the coming days.

For elections later year, Sonia Gandhi is also expected to announce new names for some of the chief positions in her party across states. It is said that she is considering appointing new leaders and overhaul the structure of the existing structure of the party.
