In a major big setback to the Congress in Maharashtra, Sujay Vikhe Patil, son of the leader of opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, joined hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday ahead of Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

He was welcomed by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis who was also present in the event that happened in Mumbai.

If reports to be believed, Sujay Vikhe Patil was denied ticket to contest from Ahmednagar Parliamentary Seats by NCP who had forged an alliance in the state with Indian National Congress. Saffron Party who had stitched an alliance with Shiv Sena on 25:23 Seat formula may field Sujay Vikhe Patil from Ahmednagar Parliamentary Constituency.

Sujay Vikhe Patil after joining the Bhartiya Janta Party praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. He also thanked Devendra Fadnavis for giving a chance to him to serve bJP.

‘I’ve taken this decision against my father’s wishes. I don’t know how much my parents will support this decision, but I’ll try my best to make my family proud by working under the guidance of BJP. CM & other BJP MLAs were supportive & helped me take the decision’ Sujay Vikhe Patil said as quoted by ANI after joining the BJP in Maharastra.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed Sujay and said that his name has been forwarded by BJP state unit to Central Parliamentary board for Lok Sabha candidature. He further expressed his happiness over the induction of Sujay in the party ahead of Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also lauded Prime Minister Narendra. He said the youth of the country knows that the country is in the safe hands, in the hands of PM Modi.

While Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil could resign from the post by evening. Reportedly, He has held discussions with NCP Boss Sharad Pawar multiple times requesting to give Ahmednagar Seat to give his son.

NCP Boss reportedly denied giving the seat. He as quoted by news agency said that ‘There is no point giving the Ahmednagar seat to anyone, it’s our seat. He added that NCP had in the past has even defeated late Balasaheb Vikhe Patil from the seat. He further said that Joining NCP was an open option in front of Sujay but at no point of time that seat could have been taken away from NCP,” Pawar said, as per the news agency.

With just weeks left for Lok Sabha Polls now, the ‘change-game’ will be on height for a couple of weeks. With the General Elections Schedule announced by Election Commission on Sunday, it is expected the parties in the upcoming days will intensify their hunts to outdo each other in the mega battle of ballots.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on Sunday declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats, Second highest after Uttar Pradesh. In 2014 General Elections, BJP-Shiv Sena led NDA won 41 Lok Sabha Seats. While Congress was reduced to just 6 Parliamentary seats.
