Almost 21 years after Mamata Banerjee‘s Trinamool Congress formation, the party has now dropped the ‘Word’ Congress from its official Logo. The move to drop the Congress name came days before the mega battle of ballots.

Mamata Banerjee way back in the year 1998 separated from Indian National Congress and floated Trinamool Congress (TMC). Her separation from the INC came after having a difference of Opinion on dealing with the then ruling regime of left CPI(M) in West Bengal.

Party Insiders further revealing about the details of the new logo said, the new logo of the party has now just Trinamool written in green with twin flowers and blue background. He further added that name of the grand-old party has been removed from all campaigning material of the party including, posters, banners and other communication materials.

Apart from the offline material, the social media accounts of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her nephew Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien have also the new party logo.

Speaking about the development, A TMC State leader as quoted by news agency said, “TMC is called Trinamool and after 21 years, it was time for a change,”.

However, the party will continue to register as Trinamool Congress with the Election Commission, a party functionary added.

TMC in a run-up to the General Elections 2019 has already declared candidates on all 42 Lok Sabha Seats with over 40% tickets to women Candidates. While Bhartiya Janta Party and Congress have also announced its candidates in some seats of the state.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on Sunday declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

The Counting of votes for the mega battle of ballots will take place on May 23, four days after last round of polling.
